Veteran’s Day Ride – Southbound Epic 11/11/14

Come celebrate Veteran’s day with the SSFTA! Ryan Brown will be leading an Southbound Epic starting at the Keyesville Kiosk and ending at the Delonegha Bridge! Ernest Garcia-Diaz will be co-hosting and has volunteered to help clear the trail of any cattle or wildlife that may impede our fun.

Come and enjoy over 20 miles of two of our favorite trails: the Keyesville trail and the Kern Canyon Trail, all in the same day! We will also be riding along the section of trail that was cut by the Stewards of the Sequoia and volunteers from our own club last year. We had a similar ride in the spring from Keyesville to the Corral, but this time we are stretching it out to include the Kern Canyon Trail from the Corral to the Bridge. This will be an intermediate ride due to some of the technical features of the trail including sandy spots, rock gardens, incredible switchbacks, and a big nasty climb. Come get a change of scenery with us on Veteran’s day!

All riders will meet at the Mesa Marin Chevron Station on the corner of highway 178 and state road 184 at 8:00am to arrange carpools and designate shuttle vehicles. The group will then drive to the Delonegha Bridge to leave the shuttle vehicles then drive up to meet the Kernville crew in Keyesville by 9:00am. Bring plenty of water and snacks as this will be a long morning on the trail. Post ride lunch will be served at KRBC.  The ride will regroup at all the key intersections and no one will be left behind, but Please use your best judgment for attending this ride.  Join the Facebook event or email the club for more information.

SSFTA Fall BBQ - 10/25/14

The SSFTA Fall BBQ will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the scenic Lake Ming day use area. Bring your bike, a side dish, and the whole family for a morning full of hanging out with your favorite people. Our own Kevin Schmidt has arranged for a poker ride in the dirt that is open to all riders for free. The poker ride will start at 10:00am and food will be ready by the time everyone gets back in! More information on the poker ride can be found below! The Club will be providing the main dish and drinks. We are asking for our members and friends to bring their favorite side dish to share with everyone. We have had some amazing plates come in over the last several years, so there will be plenty of good food to eat.

Poker ride information in the forums. If you are interested in volunteering for the poker ride, please respond to the forum post or email Kevin at vicepresident@ssfta.com. Prizes for the best hands will be presented at the BBQ.

For those of you who are unable to attend our BBQ, our Saturday morning ride will still be rolling out from Thorner at 8:00am and will be lead by Mark.
