SSFTA ANNOUNCEMENTS
Just OUtstanding June 2Just OUtstanding June 2

The time has come again to venture up to Alta Sierra to ride this phenomenal trail.  We'll start by doing the challenging Unal Trail climb, crest at the Alta Sierra ski resort, then hit the entrance to Just Outstanding.....finishing up in Wofford Heights.  I believe the total ride length is about 17 miles, and is not recommended for beginners (quite a bit of climbing - at higher elevation; plus can be fairly technical on the descents).  This will be a shuttle ride.

Lets meet at the Mesa Marin Chevron station at 8:00 a.m. for car pooling logistics.  If you live in the Kernville area, we'll be parking at the dental office parking lot just off Hwy. 155.  Will probably arrive there about 9:15'ish.

SSFTA & Amgen

Long time club supporter  Nick Chase is inviting the SSFTA to be part of a very big picture; (volunteers needed Tuesday & Wed., May 15th & 16th, in the evenings)

" I’m assisting the local organizing committee for the Amgen Tour of CA and I have a project that will require a few volunteers and I thought of the SSFTA.  What I am doing is ‘painting’ on the ground a large picture and some text that we hope will get some camera time.  Since this race is the biggest road race in the US, and will receive international television coverage, it’s a great opportunity to showcase the community’s support of events like this.  The volunteers will be needed on Wednesday May 16th, in the evening for a couple of hours.  The location is just south of Ming Lake where the riders will make a loop around the grounds with the artwork.  I would need the volunteers to help lay down the picture and text using athletic field marking chalk.  This is also a great opportunity for the SSFTA because we are trying to set up a news crew to cover the actual laying down of the artwork, so a spokesperson for your club would get interviewed and be able to promote your club’s interests".

This would be a wonderful way to contribute to the event and would take place the Wednesday before and that would leave people free on race day.
